H&D.C.A Highlights
(taken from the minutes):
- 24 people attended the A.G.M even though it was housed in "The
Basement" - a joke name for Hall 1.
- Blackfield Community Centre was noted as having made a loss of
£1800 for that previous year.
- The W.I Market had started every Thursday.
- The new photocopier was a Ricoh 5050 rented for 5 years from
"Smiths office" at £150.00 per quarter.
- The Waterside Quilters had joined.
- The Darby and Joan Club would soon be joining (re-joining)and
meeting twice a month.
- The ground rent paid to the Parish Council increased from £1500
to £1800 a year. Rent charged to the N.F.D.C for their room would
be altered in response. This link had been included in the initial hiring
contract in October 1984 - there was also a clause (suggested by the
N.F.D.C) saying that charges would be reviewed every five years - this
was ignored and never included in the agreement.
- The rent for the N.F.D.C "Local Presence" for
the six months starting from the 1st of April 1988 would be £540 or
£1080.00 for the year April 88 to March 89.
- The "Playschool" would add Tuesdays to their hirings
as from April. The price per session increased from £4.20 to £4.40.
- A microwave and fridge freezer was brought.
- Deposit account moved from Midland's bank (H.S.B.C) to National
Savings Bond. Opened a new account with Halifax.
- A bottle of whiskey was presented to Mr David Grant on his relinquishing
of his place on the Executive Committee
- There were four meetings of the "Council" / General
Committee on Wednesday evenings.
- The Executive should consist of the four officers (Chairman,
Vice Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary and 3 members of the General Committee.
- "Affiliated Groups" became "Community Groups.
Associated groups would remain the same.
- The subject of "twinning" with a village or town in
France was brought up.
- The ground maintenance was controlled by Mr & Mrs
Threadgold.
- E.P Sergeant & company was awarded the tender for painting
the Community Centre at a cost of £1180.00. They also sorted out the
guttering and windows - there were 27 windows counted. C.H Noble
and Peter Burchell Builders also tendered.
- Adjusted planning permission was approved for the new development
on Hobart Drive. This time it would have: 7 bungalows and 45 flats.
This would be "Howard Oliver House"
