H&D.C.A Highlights (taken from the minutes):

  1.  34 members were at the A.G.M. On this occasion the groups being represented was also included. These were: Waterside Wine Circle (1), Hythe Walkers (1), Hythe Historians (1), Friday Bridge Club (2), Hythe Wives(5),Bridge Club (wed)(2), Helen Young Dance (1), Hythe Trefoil (2), Quilters group (2), The Toy Library (2), Jack & Jill's Playgroup(1). Over 40's dance(1), Waterside Art Group(3) with 10 either independent or H.D.C.A related.
  2. This year seems to be the first mention of the name "Jack & Jill" for the "Playgroup" (now Preschool), previous to this they were known as "Busy Bodies Play Group" but when that changed from "Community Playgroup" is lost. They were paying £6.40 per session plus storage.
  3. It was suggested that Jack Armitage (Centre Warden) should be co-opted on to the Executive Committee. It wasn't mentioned that under the terms of the H&DCA's Constitution no employee could act as a member of the Executive Committee. This is still part of the Constitution. They could, however, be on the General Committee (as Joyce Armitage, the Centre's long term cleaner, was).
  4. "Waterside Radio" asked whether the proposed new building would be able to incorporate an antennae in it's design. There is no antennae in the current building. There is no "Waterside Radio".
  5. An "accident report book" was suggested for the office. This was despite there already being an "accident book" (first used on the 17th of April 1984) available. The last time it was used before this mention was in December 1990 when a lady tripped over the carpet in the Inn centre. The book was finally retired in 2010's when the laws changed regarding storage of personal details and accident reporting.
  6. Sylvia Barton, Chair of the "Building Committee" reported that the architect had used the wrong set of drawings to make up the plans shown at the A.G.M. The correct ones had been "faxed" over.
  7. Joe Kollar had replaced the toilet door to the disabled toilets. This was a sliding door.
  8. Jack Armitage would be on "holiday" from June 6th. He clearly wouldn't be going anywhere as the cleaner (Mrs Armitage) would still be coming in to clean.
  9. Robin Lansley was acting as Monday night warden though he was normally a Tuesday night warden.
  10. The N.F.D.C's "Local presence" left on Friday 17th of Feb. This freed up D1 and D2. Their final payment was for £704.99. They moved into "The Grove" on South Street along with the H&D Parish Council.
  11. The "Toy Library" was to be offered room D2 full use "all day" or Room D1 storage and D2 hiring at a daily rate.
  12. The "Hythe Arts Festival" (Waterside Arts festival) would use the Centre to host: Photography, Lacemaking, Quilting, Art.
  13. The brown tiles in the "Hall" needed to be replaced as they were causing a problem.
  14. The Community Association had four minibuses but was planning to  buy a fifth - a 16 seater Mercedes minibus for £40k. the Minibus account had £43k to use.
  15. Midas scheme originated by H.C.C designed to improve and standardize minibus drivers was to be used for minibus drivers.
  16. Leak in the waste pipe in the kitchen discovered and fixed.
  17. There are complaints that the kitchen prices were too cheap compared to the rest of the village.
  18. New burglar alarm was needed as the old one was faulty. It just got rewired and worked fine.
  19. New front door needed. Joe Kollar to sort out. cost estimate £250
  20. The inhabitants of Dibden Purlieu were hoping to buy the "Conservative Club" on Beaulieu Road as a Community Centre. It was too expensive. This building would later be torn down and 15 houses built in it's place and called: Lawnswood Close.
  21. New headed paper was required... Perhaps with a "new" logo.
  22. Clarification as to what makes a booking: Membership, Associate or Commercial to be added to booking form.
  23. Xmas closed between: Friday 22nd of December 1995 and 2nd of January 1996
