H&D.C.A Highlights
(taken from the minutes):
- The building had received planning permission. There was only
12 years left to run on the ground lease so a 99 year one was to be
negotiated for.
- The car park still hadn't been repainted.
- The lack of wardens was mentioned
- Reference was made to the H&D Community News (number 42)
about "Non-stop activity at new centre" and "how things
had changed since 1984".
- Ray Kneiriem became Monday night Warden.
- This question was asked: Would there be a dumb waiter or a lift
to transport items to the first floor in the new building? The current
building has a lift.
- A "what's on diary" and newsletter could be introduced.
- Quiz nights to be hosted or "Master of Ceromony'd" by
Joe Kollar. The owners of "Monopoly" (Waddingtons) would sponcer
the prizes. This was set for Sunday 24th of Nov. It should be advertised
in the New Forest Post and The Herald. Town cryer to be paid £10 to
advertise on the day.
- It was unlikely that the new building would be started before
May 1997.
- The Centre would be open for the Waterside Arts Festival on Saturday
13th Of July
- New photocopier rates: For members : 7p for A4 and 10p for A3.
For non-members 10p for A4 and 20p for A3.
- Jack's holiday would be between 30th of May and 17th of June.
He was also off on 21st of Oct.
- Reinstating the disco was suggested.
- The H&DCA thought about entering the "gardens in bloom"
competition. They did and they won 1st place (including the shield!).
This seems to be a different "Hythe in Blooms" that operates
today as they claim only to have existed since 2004.
- The police were unhappy about the security of the minibuses which
the Association parked within the police station's car park as keys
were often just left on the counter. This situation had been inherited
from when the W.C.C.S ran the service.
- The kitchen floor would be replaced with hardboard and vinyl.
- The Community Centre would close for Christmas between Tuesday
24th of December at 1pm and reopen on the 2nd of January 1997.
- Membership cards might now include times when the groups meet.
This didn't happen.
- A lady got muddy while trying to avoid a puddle on the "school
path" and wanted H&DCA to pay for her cleaning. A payment was
to be made as good will.
- The "playschool" was paying about £6.60 per session
with £7 storage.
