The Executive Committee for the years 1997 - 98 included:

The Highlights:

  1. The A.G.M was attended by 12 people plus the Executive Committee.
  2. The cost of cleaning the womans' coat was paid for.
  3. Quizes would be every two months starting 27th of February.
  4. The floor in the kitchen and Wilson Hall (hall 1) was replaced.
  5. The price of photocopying was lowered to 5p from 7p.
  6. The disco would not be resurrected.
  7. Some local youths were causing a nuisance in the evenings.
  8. A new gardener was hired.
  9. Jack and Joyce Armitage would be on holiday for two weeks starting 18th of May. A lady called Patsy would act as cleaner while Joyce was away.
  10. Jack would be away from the 20th October to the 2nd November.
  11. A new trolley was brought.
  12. Concerns over the introduction of car parking charges in Brinton Lane car park were voice again.
  13. The "Hythe in Bloom" shield would need to be returned ahead of 1997's competition.
  14. The "playschool" was paying about £6.70 per session.
  15. The playgroup required more storage space. Waterside Art Group's metal cupboard was to be moved to release space.
  16. New Membership cards were ready at the printers.
  17. The question was asked as to whether the "old" library would be available to use during rebuilding. The library had moved to a new building so the old one was empty. By the time the Community Centre was being rebuilt the "old" library and neighbouring C.A.B hut had long since been demolished.
  18. Radiator "pins" needed cleaning.
  19. Switch in office needed replacing.
  20. A monthly "draw" would start in March. By November the  "F" draw had been completed and "G" draw would happen in Dec. £340 had been donated to the H&DCA. The organisation of the draw would be done "in-house" from then on but with Sylvia Barton still organising it.
  21. The Community Centre would be closed for Christmas between the 23rd of December 1997 and  the 5th of January 1998.
